A Beginner's Guide to Effective Email
I believe strongly in the value of electronic mail in both
corporate and personal domains. Email is cheaper and faster
than a letter, less intrusive than a phone call, less hassle
than a FAX. Using email, differences in location and time zone
are less of an obstacle to communication. There is also evidence
that email leads to a more egalitarian information structure.

CNET Download.com for the PC - Reviews
Downloading is easy to understand.
There are some variations to the process--depending on the
type of computer you use, which operating system it runs,
and what software you use to access the World Wide Web--but
overall, it's pretty straightforward stuff. In fact, it's
just a five-step process:
Computer Basics IBM-PC
8 Things You Should Know Before You Get Started
1. Your inexperience with a PC is not an indication of your intelligence.
2. You don't have to know a lot about a PC to use one.
3. There are no keys you can press that will destroy the machine or your files.
4. The mouse is tough: you don't need to treat it as if it were fragile.
5. It helps to know how to type, but it's not necessary.
6. Know how to take care of your PC and diskettes, and do it.
7. Learn in your spare time, not just before a deadline.
8. Master the basics before trying the fancy stuff

How Computer Viruses Work
Computer Viruses are mysterious and they also get
your attention. Every time a new virus hits, it
makes the news if it spreads quickly. On the one
hand viruses show us how unknowingly vulnerable
we are, but on the other hand they show how
sophisticated and interconnected human beings
have become. For example, the "Melissa" virus -
which became a worldwide phenomenon in March of
1999 - was so powerful that it forced Microsoft
and a number of other very large companies to
completely turn off their email systems until
the virus could be contained. The "ILOVEYOU" virus
in 2000 had a similarly devastating effect. That's
pretty impressive when you consider how simple the Melissa
and ILOVEYOU viruses are!
Advanced Web Searching Techniques
By understanding how to perform sophisticated
searches of online information, your chances of
finding what you want will be greatly increased.
Most search engines allow you to define your
search criteria in very specific ways, but not
all function the same way.
LEARN THE NET Anatomy of a Web Page
A web page is an electronic document written in a
computer language called HTML, short for Hypertext
Markup Language. Each web page has a unique address,
called a URL, short for Uniform Resource Locator, which
identifies its location on the network.
LEARN THE NET Anatomy of an E-mail Message
E-mail messages are similar to letters, with two main parts.
The header contains the name and address of the recipient,
the name and address of anyone who is being copied, and the
subject of the message. Some e-mail programs also display
your name and address and the date of the message.
LEARN THE NET Attaching Files to E-mail Messages
With the advent of an Internet protocol called MIME,
Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension, and other types
of encoding schemes, such as UUencode, you can send
formatted documents, photos, sound and video files as
attachments to your e-mail messages.
LEARN THE NET File Compression
While surfing the Internet, you will undoubtedly
find text, graphics, audio and video files that
you can download. Multimedia files in particular,
can be very large, which means they can move very
slowly across the network. Downloading these files
can sometimes take hours.
