The Buffalo Maritime Society, which owns the Sea Lion, along with the Buffalo
Community Boating Center, which sponsors the Sea Lion, has an opportunity this
summer to perform some dry-dock work on the ship which will greatly extend her
lifespan. Because of this, we cannot accurately schedule events at this time.
Watch this page for more details in the near future.
Coming to Home Port! -- No Date Set Yet
Opening Day of the 1999 Summer Season! The Sea Lion will be open for
tours at the Small Boat Harbor. Guests will be able to try their hand at making
rope, tying knots, hauling cargo with an authentic working block and tackle,
pumping the bilge and more! Storytellers, singing pirates, and theatrical
swordfighters will entertain you. We hope to have craftspeople demonstrate some
of the occupations of the time, such as wool carding, blacksmithing, and wood
carving.
Pirate Weekend! -- No Date Set Yet
(Wouldn't
want any snitches squealing to the Captain!)
It's Mutiny! The usually
law-abiding crew of the English merchant vessel, The Sea Lion will make
their captain walk his own plank. For just one weekend this summer, the ship
will become a pirate vessel, the scourge of the seven seas. Witness sword
fights, hear buccaneers telling tall tales, watch pirates entertain themselves
just as they would at sea. Argggh, mateys! See ya there!
